This single-strand natural pearl and diamond necklace
was a gift from Queen Mary. It is said that it was a final gesture of
reconciliation to her beloved son and his wife whom she never knew.
Composed of 28 natural pearls graduating from approximately enormous
16.8 to 9.2 mm.
The pearls are all natural and weigh a total of 1261.33 grains. The
weights of the five largest pearls are as follows:
120.09 grains; 76.39 grains; 68.96 grains; 67.89 grains and 63.84 grains.
The necklace is completed by an oval clasp set with 2 emerald-cut diamonds
weighing approximately 2.00 carats and 2 fancy-shaped diamonds weighing
approximately 1.00 carat, bordered by 20 small round diamonds weighing
approximately, 7carat, length 14 inches. The clasp signed is signed
by Cartier, Paris.
The strand of pearls was sold in 1987 to Calvin Klein who purchased
it for his wife, Kelly. On 4th Oct 2007 the pearls were once again auctioned
and it’s possible to see a memento of one of the greatest romances
of the 20th century. ....a love that rocked an Empire and a family.!!

Die Perlen der Herzogin von Windsor
28 Naturperlen als eine einzigartige Perlenschnur von
grosser emotionaler Bedeutung, die kleinste Perle hat eine Grösse
von 9,2mm bis zu der grössten Perle in der Mitte mit 16,8 mm.
Es heisst, die Perlen waren ein Geschenk von Königin Mary von England
an ihren Sohn Edward und dessen ihr unbekannte Frau, für die er
den englischen Thron aufgab.
Die Perlen haben ein Gewicht von 1261.33 grain und der ovale Verschluss
wurde mit zwei Diamanten in Smargdschliff, sowie Fancy Diamanten von
1 ct und 20 Diamanten von insgesamt 7ct von Cartier Paris gearbeitet.
Die Herzogin trägt die Perlenkette auf dem Bild als mittlere Reihe,
man kann auf den vielen erhaltenen Bildern die Perlenkette immer wieder
entdecken, es scheint eines der Lieblingsstücke der Herzogin gewesen
zu sein, kein Wunder waren es doch Königliche Perlen und von so
ausergewöhnlicher Grösse.
