Princess Faiza of Egypt, the daughter of King Fouad and Queen Nazli, commissioned this impressive Peony Flower from Van Cleef & Arpels Paris in 1937.
The famous "Peony flower" is one of the highlights of Van Cleef & Arpel 1930s artistry, made using Mystery Set technique, which was used for thefirst time by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1933.
There are 640 square Burmese rubies Mystery Set as flower petals and the heart is made up of six oval facetted rubies, while the folige is composed of 43 baquette -cut and 196 round diamonds. The rubies weigh a total 100 carats and the diamonds a total of 30 carats.
The feminin and elegance stomacher brooch is in french known as the "Pivoine ruby brooch of Van Cleef & Arpels"and is now part of the collection of the "Maison".
