Königlicher Rubinschmuck | Rubine Collier de Chien Halsband Auguste Viktoria der Königin von Portugal

Der Chocker bzw das Diamanthundehalsband mit 11 Rubinen von 14.55ct. wurde von Königin Amalie von Portugal bei Cartier 1913 in Auftrag gegeben und war wohl ein Geschenk an die Prinzessin evtl zur Hochzeit. Die extra lange Perlenkette hat einen grossen Perlentropfen als Anhänger und die Ohrhänger sind ebenfalls mit grossen Rubinen und Diamanten geschmückt.

Auguste Viktoria, Königin von Portugal, wurde als Prinzessin von Hohenzollern geboren.

Am 4. September 1913 heiratete Auguste Viktoria, Prinzessin von Hohenzollern in der Stadtkirche von Sigmaringen den König von Portugal, Emanuel (Manuel) II. Maria Philipp Karl Amelio Ludwig Michael Raphael Gabriel Gonzaga Xaver Franz von Assissi, Eugen de Braganca geb. 1889.

Das Rubin Diamant Diadem überreichte König Manuel II. seiner Frau Augusta Viktoria. Auf dem Portrait trägt sie die offene Version des Schmucks der auch wie eine Krone oder getragen werden konnte (rechts im Bild), eine Skizze mit einem sehr ähnlichen Coronet ist im Archiv der Firma Leitao & Irmao mit 1913 datiert. Das Muster und Ornament ist dem portugisischen Orden "Kreuz Christie" - nachempfunden, ein Orden der an den Karavellen hing, der Flotte Portugal die die Weltmeere umsegelten.

Der König starb am 2.7.1932 auf Fulwell-Park in Twickenham, seine Witwe, Königin Auguste Viktoria von Portugal zog es nach dem Tod ihres Mannes wieder in ihre deutsche Heimat. Sie ließ sich von ihrem Bruder, Friedrich Fürsten von Hohenzollern, vom Stammgut Umkirch ca. 8 Hektar Grundstücke abtreten und baute in direkter Nachbarschaft des fürstlichen Schlosses einen neuen Landsitz, den sie in Erinnerung an ihren englischen Sitz Fulwell-Park nannte, heute Auguste-Victoria-Park.

The tiara was given by King Manuel II to his wife, Queen Augusta Victoria, which she wears in the excellent Laszlo portrait above. This jewel could be worn as a tiara as shown in the portrait or as a coronet as shown on the right. A sketch showing a very similar coronet dated 1913 is in the archive of Leitão e Irmão, according to Geoffrey Munn. The main motif of the tiara is the Portuguese Cross of Christ, taken from the Order, which used to hang on the caravels that sailed the world.

Queen Amélia of Portugal ordered the choker with diamonds and 11 rubies totaling 14.55ct made by Cartier in 1913 and it was a wedding present to the Princess. The choker was made from a bracelet composed of 21 diamonds from the Duc of Aoste, a wedding gift to Queen Marie-Amelia. As well as a collier of diamonds and rubies from her her husband Carlos, given in 1904 at Windsor. All this in addition to a magnificient sautoir of Pearls of exceptional size. Augusta Victoria wore it with a large drop and ruby and diamond earrings. Often together with a white and black pearl.
