Anna Wintour is seen with a new treasure from her jewelbox at the Met Gala 2024.
The MET Gala, Anna Wintour graced the red carpet in a bespoke Loewe creation: a sweeping floral black jacket, elegantly worn over a pristine white dress, adorned with a statement floral brooch and a dazzling diamond necklace (see details above). While the fashion world jests about the ‘Fashion Devil’ sporting groundbreaking florals for spring, the truth lies deeper. Wintour’s choice pays homage to a legendary piece crafted by Charles Frederick Worth back in 1889. Known for championing the textile industry, Worth’s masterpiece, featuring the intricate ‘Tulipes Hollandaises’ jacquard fabric, challenged conventions with its staggering three-foot repeat pattern, a feat of weaving prowess.
Originally unveiled at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 in Paris, this fabric earned Worth acclaim and a prestigious grand prize. Its tulip motifs exude an assertive dynamism, their vibrant hues juxtaposed against the inky depths of the fabric, evoking the allure of the femme fatale aesthetic prevalent in the late 19th century. And in this modern iteration of the MET Gala, Ms. Wintour embodies the essence of the contemporary femme fatale, captivating and commanding attention with her sartorial choice.............. fashion history from - divina_ispirazione
