Das Diamant Brosche von Cartier war eines ihrer Hochzeitsgeschenke, die Sie 1935 erhielt.
The young Duke of Roxburghe married the young Lady Crewe-Milnes, daughter of Lord and Lady Crewe. The marriage seems so suitable in every way. Lady Mary Crewe Milnes belongs to as famous a family as her fiance. The King and Queen have honoured bride and bridegroom with gifts, and a great many presents have been received from friends and relatives.
The Queen, who wore a grey velvet dress and coat trimmed with grey fox fur and a grey velvet folded toque finished with a tuft of grey ostrich feathers at the side, was present yesterday at the reception held by the Marchioness of Crewe after the marriage of her daughter Lady Mary Evelyn Hungerford Crewe-Milnes, to the Duke of Roxburghe.
Both the Duke and Lady Mary were godchildren of Her Majesty Queen Mary. The marriage took place in Westminster Abbey, with the Archbishop of York, on October 1935. The Marquess of Crewe gave his daughter away.
The bride's wedding dress of chalk-white romaine was cut on princess lines, with gaugings from the deep V-neck to the hip-line.
The long rounded train was cut in one with the dress and the sleeves were long and close-fitting.
A jewelled clip was fastened at one side of the corsage and was the only trimming.
From a halo headdress of silver tissue and orange-blossom fell a long full tulle veil. The bouquet carried by Lacy Mary was of arum, tiger and lapergeria lilies, with lilies of the valley.
The trainbearer was Lord Primrose, who was dressed in a flame-velvet suit with a sash of gold lame. The bride was attended by fourteen bridesmaids who were also dressed in scarlet and gold, wearing gold wreathes and carrying scarlet bouquets.
