This half-hoop diamond bracelet of diamonds was a wedding gift from the inhabitants of Windsorto Princess Margaret of Connaught, Crown Princess of Sweden , above pictured with the bracelet, when the royal couple arrived at Stockholm, after the marriage in Windsor.

WINDSOR'S WEDDING GIFT TO PRINCESS MARGARET

In 1905 The Committee of Windsor subscribers met in the Guildhall Chamber on Tuesday afternoon to select a present for H.R.H. Princess Margaret of Connaught, on the occasion of her marriage. There was a full attendance of the Committee, presided over by the Mayor (Councillor Shipley), and a number of lovely articles of jewellery were submitted for inspection by Messrs. H. Way and Son, Messrs. Dyson and Son, and Mr. H. Wagland, all jewellers in the Royal borough.

After much consideration, choice finally was made of a beautiful half-hoop diamond bracelet of 15 stones of the purest water, one of the samples submitted by Messrs. H. Way and Sons, which same firm has for many years past supplied most of the town's wedding gifts to members of the Royal family. The presentation to her Royal Highness took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Green Drawing-Room at Windsor Castle. The deputation, consisting of the Mayor (Councillor Shipley), the Member for the Borough (Sir Francis Trees Barry, Bart., M.P.), the Vicar of Windsor Rev. E H. Ellison), and the Town Clerk (Mr. E. C. Durant) were received at the Equerries' Entrance by Colonel Egerton, equerry to the Duke  of Connaught, and conducted to the Green Drawing Room.

Within a few minutes the Duke and Duchess of Connaught entered the apartment with the Princess Margaret (the bride), her sister Princess Victoria Patricia, Prince Arthur of Connaught, and, last but not least, the Prince Gustavus Adolphus. The proceedings were quite informal--indeed, of a conversational character. After greetings had been exchanged, the Mayor handed Windsor's gift—which was enclosed in a morocco leather and velvet-lined case, with a small silver plate bearing the inscription:

" Windsor, June 15th, 1905 " to her Royal Highness, who received it very pleasantly. His Worship, in handing the gift to the Princess said it was from the people of Windsor and the neighbourhood, accompanied by the universal wish that her Royal Highness and Consort would enjoy a married life fall of serene happiness; and he trusted that June 15, 1905, spent in Windsor, would be the happiest day of her life. In accepting the gift, Princess Margaret said just a few simple words of thanks; she expressed herself charmed with it and declared her intention of wearing it at her wedding, a promise, by the way, which she fulfilled on Thursday.

The Duke of Connaught added a few words of thanks to the Mayor, and the deputation then withdrew, the Mayor proceeding to the Royal garden party to which he had been invited with the Mayoress Mayor of Windsor and the vicar, with Sir Francis Barry, M.P., presented to the Royal bride and bridegroom at the Castle this morning.

Margaret went on to become Crown Princess of Sweden following her marriage to Gustav Adolf of Sweden in 1905. She was nicknamed Daisy and in Sweden was known as Margareta.
