Pearl and Diamond Pendant Queen Louisa |Royal Jewels Denmark
The diamond pearl pendant, belonging to the Danish Queen Consort Lovisa of Sweden, wife of King Frederik VIII.
"At around 1894, master Robert Schwan made a heart-shaped pendant, in yellow gold, with rose-cut diamonds, half-pearls and three drop pearls for crown princess Lovisa of Denmark, who wears it in many portraits" from the Bolin Book. See above in the picture.
Queen Lovisa was very rich indeed, and had the most impressive jewelry collection among the Danish queens.
Princess Mary of Cambridge wrote about them in a letter from Rumpenheim were she and Lovisa were staying.
"Thursday we worked (painting) in the Gallery, and Louisa brought us up a drawer full of jewels to admire.
How envious You would be of her pearls!
A necklace of five rows, with a glorious boutton snap, this latter a gift of Minny and the czarevich; and the Khedives present, a magnificent pearl and diamond necklace with three pearl drops, which her Duch grandparents cleverly mached in a brooch...
Her Swedish grand mother left her a very pretty parure, in the shape of a wreath of ruby currants and diamond leaves"..............
