Im Bild oben trägt Lady May Abel Smith ein Diamant Diadem, das Hochzeitsgeschenk ihrer Schwiegermutter Mrs Abel Smith.
.
In 1937 when Lady May Abel Smith attend the coronation, she was pictured wearing the diamond fringe tiara which was the wedding gift to her from her mother-in-law, Mrs. Francis Abel Smith.
The diamond tiara is one of graduated spikes - nothing is know if it was probably an heirloom of the family of Francis Abel Smith (1861-1908), of Selsdon Park and Wilford House, and his wife Madeline St. Maur Seymour (1862-1951).
His grandparents were Henry Abel Smith (1826–1890) and Elizabeth Mary Pym (1826–1877), and his great-grandparents were Francis Pym (1790–1860) and Lady Lucy Leslie-Meville (1796–1848), daughter of Alexander Leslie-Melville, 9th Earl of Leven. He descended from the smith's banking family.
The Diamond Brooch is in the form of a"Rose of York".
It is seen in the oval picture in front of the tiara and is probably a heirloom of the Albanys and presented by her parents.
A diamond bandeau which can be converted into two bracelets from her parents Princess Alice and the Earl of Athlone
The Diamond Brooch is in the form of a "Rose of York". It is seen in the oval picture in front of the tiara and is probably a heirloom of the Albanys and presented by her parents.
On the left side of the necklace a three-row diamond jewel, like an shorted chatelaine; it is hanging on the wall. It is probably similar to the bracelet which Lady May wore on her wrist, or could be also the "Bracelet of the Ladies of Preston" a wedding present to the Duchess of Albany - her grandmother (The centre is of oval form, broken at regular intervals by large lustrous stones, and is surmounted by the coronet of her Royal Highness in diamonds, rubies, and emeralds. The central diamond is large and of singular purity and brilliancy. The bands are of gold, richly decorated as to allow of being removed at pleasure. By this means the centre can be worn as a breast ornament, and as such is a gem of beauty).
The necklace which she wears is a marquise diamond chain and pendant in Art Deco style, which could be broken into a shorter version of the necklace or into four bracelets. It was the wedding gift from King George V and Queen Mary.
