Prinzessin Alexander von Teck, war die Tochter von Leopold, Herzog of Albany, dem jüngsten Sohn Königin Victorias.
Das Diadem aus Diamanten mit dreizehn stilisierte Palmen, im Stil des Artdeco trug die Prinzessin bis zuletzt bei öffentlichen Auftritten im Dienste des Britischen Königshauses mit über 90 Jahren, sie starb 1981.
Das Blattmotif in symethrisch strengen Gliederung mit einem interessanten Kontrast die kissenförmig grossen Diamanten in leicht gelb, sind bis auf den grössten Diamanten im zentralen Mittelteil, frei schwingend.
Das Anthemium oder Palmetten Diadem, war dann im Besitz von Lady May Abel Smith und wurde 1984 für $33.696 von ihren Nachkommen bei Christie's versteigert.
Im Bild oben, kann man noch ein weiteres interessantes Schmuckstück erkennen, an Ihrem Handgelenk befindet sich ein Schlangen-Armreif mit Schlangenkopf, der ursprünglich doppelt so breite, also zweireihige Reif, gehörte Ihrer Mutter der Herzogin von Albany.
The palmette diamond tiara consists of thirteen graduated palm fronds, with light yellow pendant diamonds, suspended between from the diamond single line frame. One large cusion cut diamond is placed in the center. It was a long-time favourite tiara of Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, the last surviving grandchild of Queen Victoria when she died in 1981.
The anthemium tiara was later in the collection of her daughter Lady May Abel-Smith, but not seen worn by her. It is said that one of the Princess's granddaughters sold the tiara in 1984 for $33696 USD.
Princess Alice wore part of the diamond snake bracelet on her wrist. it is an historic piece of jewellery, an heirloom of her mother.
The important antique sapphire and diamond pendant with four lovers knots on each corner, are later in the collection of Lady May Abel Smith. She sold it in 1974 für $17,250.
