14 June 1923 St. Margaret's Church, Westminster has rarely looked prettier under its canopy of floral decorations than it did on the wedding day, when a special array of flowers had been arranged by the chancel rails. Palms with spreading leaves formed a bower under which the bride and bridegroom took their stand, and on either side were banks of red rambler roses, marguerites and variegated privet, whilst on the altar table were two vases of beautiful Madonna lilies.
The Royal party occupied seats immediately in front of the chancel rails to the right of the centre aisle. The officiating clergy were the Rev. J. Gibbs, vicar of Badminton, and the Rev. W. Woolward, the rector of Myddle, Shropshire. The hour of eleven was chimed; the bridal procession made its way from the north door to the chapel to the tune of the hymn Gracious Spirit Holy Ghost, sung by the choir of St. Margaret's.
The bride and bridegroom drove to Chandos House, where a small and private wedding breakfast was held, but there was no reception, this portion of the arrangement having been abandoned owing to Court mourning for the death of Princess Christian. Later in the afternoon -the Marquis and Marchioness left town for Castle, which the Earl Lonsdale has placed at their disposal for the honeymoon.
