The starry diamond Crown - Superb high crown of upright stars and high sprays of diamonds on a wide band encrusted with these gems. The base of the tiara shaw the emblem of the house of Savoy - the interwoven knots of the Order of the Annunziata. The diamonds are of great size and the crown one of imposing magnificent made by the Italian jeweller Musy .
The marvellous royal tiara offered by the King and Queen of Italy, which forms a crown and is made entirely of diamonds; it is not valued at less than 500,000 francs.
The Duc of Aoste, inherited the fortune and property of his father and mother, and is thus one of the wealthiest princes of Savoy, owning large domains in Belgium as well as in Italy.
When in Turin he resides in the Cisterna Palace, which was his mother's, a magnificent building of old historical interest and one of the ornaments of the whilom capital of Sardinia. He has largely
and intelligently restored it, spending two millions of francs on improvements, and at the present time the palace contains some valuable collections of art and antiquities.
The Duke Emmanuele bas two brothers -the Count of Turin, a major in the cavalry regiment of " Piemonte Reale," and the Duke of the Abruzzi, a lieutenant in the navy. Besides these he has a half-brother, the Count of Salemi, born of the second marriage of his father with Princesse Letitia, daughter of Prince Napoleon and Princess Clutilde of Savoy, his own niece.
The wedding dress is of white satin almost perfectly plain, but perfect in style, entirely covered by the superb veil made, on purpose for the Princess at Bayeux. It is three metres in length, and is composed of white Chantilly lace ornamented at the bottom with a flowered border. The centre is plain, but in the middle of the back the branches of foliage spread out to make a frame for the Royal arms of France, the shield of the Aostas, and the white cross of Savoy.
A coronet of orange blossoms, arranged by Auguste Petit, will be worn on the head, and the veil will be fastened on each shoulder and caught up at intervals on the dress by the same flowers. The bridesmaids, the Princesses Louise and Isabelle, will wear pale blue with white hats.
The Court dress made by Worth consists of a train of turquoise-blue velvet, bordered round the edge with blue ostrich feathers ; there are two dresses to wear with this train, one of white satin with large white chiffon sleeves in which blue is blended, and a cloth of silver with a splendid lace border around the bodice. This superb dress is to be worn on State occasions. The Princess is a great horsewoman, and she has provided hrself with numerous riding habits, covert coats, &c. These have been furnished by Basoine.
The wedding dress comes from Paris from the Maison Froment.
King Humbert has given his nephew a villa near Turin, and has sent four magnificent saddle horses for the bride and bridegroom. The Pope has sent a sacred relic studded with diamonds and other jewels set in gold.
