When Princess Margaret of Connaught married the Crown Prince of Sweden in the year 1905 she got a great array of jewel presents.
In 1912 the press noted:
Turquoises are the jewel for December and these blue stones are much in favour with the Royal Family and with smart society.
The late King Edward gave a turquoise and diamond tiara to Queen Victoria of Spain at the time of her marriage.
Princess Henry of Battenberg and the Duchess of Connaught have good turquoises and they share with amethyst the honour of being given as wedding presents by the royalties.

The Duchess of Connaught, probably left her turquoises to her daughter the Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden.
An oval turquoise and diamond cluster brooch and drop shapde pendant, and turquoise and diamond cluster earrings once belonged to Empress Catherine II of Russia, also known as Catherine the Great, and inherited through Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia, the Duchess of Connaught, Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden and Queen Ingrid left to Queen Margarete of Denmark. She presented it to her daughter-in-law, crown princess Mary, on their 50th birthday.
