Above Queen Silvia of Sweden is wearing a diamond brooch in form of a naturalistic rose sprig, with buds and leaves. It was first time seen in public on her in the 1980th. The Queen of Sweden use it not as brooch, probably it is too fragile. She got another brooch of a diamond rose on her 60th birthday in 2003, which she wear often as brooch or hairjewel.
Her daughter, Princess Madeleine of Sweden, wore the all over diamond rose, on the occassion of her sisters wedding, the Crown Princess Victoria, in 2010, on the backside as hairjewel, see above.
A second occassion is known, Princess Madeleine, Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland, wore the large diamond rose,on the side in the hair.
The Bernadotte Foundation, now owner of the brooch, give us the follow details:It is the form of a beautiful rose on a short stem, surrounded by leaves and rosebuds, all encrusted with diamonds. The brilliant cut diamonds set in silver and gold. H. 10,2. W. 8,1cm.
This brooch was a heirloom of Louise Grand Duchess of Baden, Princess of Prussia, which was given to her wedding from her grandmother, the Dowager Grand Duchess Marie of Saxe-Weimar.
