This Sapphire and diamond brooch, was probably a wedding present from the Fürstin of Thurn and Taxis ....."Drei Schlussnadeln mit je einem Saphir, Smaragd und Rubin in mattgoldenem Bande von der Fürstin Maria Theresia von Thurn und Taxis."
The tapering bar brooch set in the center with an oval-shaped cabochon sapphire weighing approximatily 22,50 carats, completed by 20 old mine diamonds weighing apprroximately 3,00ct and numerous small oldmine and rose-cut diamonds mounted in platinum with gold pin.
It was probably altered in 1910 from E. et R. Altenloh, Joaillers-Orefevres de L.L.M.M. Le Roi et La Reine, 96 Montagne de la Cour et Place Royale, Bruxelles.
Queen Elisabeth of Belgium wore it on important events, such as the royal wedding of her son Albert and Princess Astrid, the royal wedding of grandson King Baudouin and Fabiola and on the royal wedding of Prince Albert and Paola, on the inhuldigung of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.
The Queen of the Belges left it to her daughter Princess Marie-Jose of Belgium, the Queen of Italy. She gave it to her daughter Princess Marie Gabrielle of Savoy, which sold it in 1988. The whereabout is unknown.
