Flower & Leaf Diamond Tiara| Royal Diadem of Princess Isabella of Bavaria| Princess Franz of Bavaria| House of Wittelsbach Bayern
Excerpt from the jewelery list of Duchess Marie Ludmila von Arenberg b. 29 June 1870 - 9 September 1953 pos 27 of 270:
*[Possibly. Ernest d'Arenberg married 26 September 1842 Sophie d'Auersperg [Auersperg] b. 8 January 1811 d. 15 February 1901 ]thus the wedding present from the parents. This diamond flower and leaf brooch was used to form the above tiara for Princess Isabella, we see the dominant different leaves, the eight diamond flower buds and three large diamond wild roses which now have a large sapphire as their centre. I got this information from Princess Irmingard's descendant - her daughter, who received a pair of sapphire earrings from her grandmother's jewelry list, which are still worn in the family, more on that later.
We learn more details about the prince's wedding from the press:
1911 - Tonight, in Archduke Friedrich's palace, the previously announced engagement of Princess Isabella CROY , a niece of Archduchess Isabella, to <Prince Franz of Bavaria , third son of Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig III) and Princess Maria Theresa of Bavaria, a born Archduchess of Austria-Este.
The groom, a nephew of Archduchess Adelgunde, Duchess of Modena, was born on October 10, 1875 at Leutstetten Castle. He is a lieutenant colonel and commander of the Bavarian 1. heavy cavalry regiments. The bride is the only sister of the reigning Duke Karl von Cray. She is the daughter of the twelfth Duke Karl von Croy, who, as may still be remembered, died on September 28, 1906 in Karapancsa during a hunting trip that he paid to his brother-in-law, Archduke Friedrich, in Bellye, and who Duchess Ludmilla of Croy ,. born Princess of Arenberg. She was born on October 7th, 1890 at Castle L'Hermitage. The groom has already arrived here today. The bride arrives here at noon. The engagement is celebrated in family circles. The Duke of Croy will also attend the publication of the engagement. Prince Franz was most recently at the marriage of his cousin, Prince George of Bavaria, to the daughter of Archduke Friedrichin of Vienna.Wedding of Prince Franz of Bavaria.
Baden, July 8th. The wedding of Prince Franz of Bavaria and Princess Isabella Croy, a niece of Archduchess Isabella, took place in the Weilburg at 11 a.m. today. The marriage, which was performed by Monsignor Croy, a relative of the bride, was attended by a splendid court society.
After the wedding banquet, the newlyweds started their honeymoon. Wedding of Prince Franz of Bavaria. Baden near Vienna, 8. July. In the castle chapel of the Weilburg, the wedding of Prince Franz of Bavaria and Princess Isabella v. Croy, a niece of Archduchess Friedrich. < The highest ranks who arrived in the course of the morning and yesterday took part in the wedding ceremony, including Archduke Friedrich and his wife, Archdukes Eugen and Rainer, as well as Princes Ludwig and Leopold with their families, Princes Georg and Konrad of Bavaria, and several others other members of the Austrian imperial and Bavarian royal families and numerous other princes. In addition, the Bavarian envoy, Freiherr von Tucher, and several officers of the Bavarian 1st Heavy Cavalry Regiment, whose commander is Prince Franz. The wedding ceremony was performed by the bride's uncle, Msgr. Prince Ferdinand von Croy, Dean in Möns (Belgium)! before. TraMeugenj were for the bride the Duke of Arenberg and Duke of Croy, for the bridegroom Archduke Friedrich and Prince Leopold of Bavaria. While the wedding was still going on, the former religious leader of the bride, Domprovost Kogl-Augsburg, read a mass with the assistance of Prince Ferdinand-Croy and Pastor Helfert-Baden. Then followed the congratulations, followed by a dejeuner. Despatches of congratulations have arrived from the Emperor Frauz Joseph, the members of the imperial family, the German Emperor and the sovereigns of the German federal states. After the dejeuner, the newlyweds started their wedding ceremony. The return to Munich takes place at the beginning of August,The Princess' Trousseau Is Croy.
In a few days, on the 8th of December, the wedding of Princess Isabella von Croy-Dülmen with Prince Franz of Bavaria will take place in the Weilburg, the summer residence of Archduke Friedrich's family, and next to the relatives the new relatives of the beautiful, slim, blond-haired princess will also arrive with the bride. Of course, the bride's cousin, Princess Isabella of Bavaria, and her husband, Prince Georg, are coming to Vienna. And the son of the Prince Regent, Prince Ludwig and his wife, the daughter of our Emperor, Princess Gisela and Prince Leopold, as well as their son Prince Konrad, the Duchess of Calabria and the Princesses Adelgunde, Helmtrud, Hildegard and G undelinde are coming in Sunday evening the Weilburg. So it is quite understandable that Archduchess Isabella, in whose house the princess grew up (probably after her father's hunting accident with the archduchess!), lovingly cared for the outfit for her niece so meticulously and yet again so magnificently that every woman's heart pleased to hear details on this. The trousseau takes equal account of the duties of representation as well as the practical needs of everyday life and, in addition to the beautiful, does not neglect the necessary.
The highlight of the equipment is of course the wedding dress. A lace robe made of the most delicate, elegant Brussels lace falls over a lingerie made of white Liberty, genuine of course, stretching out in noble tendrils of flowers to the long train. The waist is high at the neck. In the collar and the insert made of Brussels tulle, the arrangement closes with real lace, which lies across the chest and runs over the shoulders in an elongated path. The belt is marked by tighter laces, and the skirt runs completely smoothly, since the real laces are enough finery in themselves, and flows into the train, which is extremely graceful and tasteful. The same is cut in a small oval and is finished all around with spikes in the shape of a fan. A ruffle of pleated tulle peeks out from under this finish. A bouquet of myrtle is emblazoned on the chest and a branch of myrtle twines from the waist down, ending in a flower at knee height. On the wedding day, a diadem of diamonds will rest in the hair, in which the myrtle wreath will be fastened.
The bridal veil made of real Brussels tulle is also fastened in the hairstyle and with the wreath and diadem and falls down to the hem of the train.
A robe of exquisite taste will be the toilet for the bridal soiree. On a pink Liberty background is a pink beaded embroidery cover, partially covered with solid silk embroidery motifs. The narrow skirt is complemented in its lower part by a very tasteful arrangement of pink Liberty in wavy lines, which previews a triangular small tablier of pearls embroidered with silk roses. The robe has a court neckline, small kimono-like sleeves, a decorative La France rose on the corsaze and a long court train. Among the evening dresses, a rich selection of which is already intended for the winter season in Munich for small and large dinners and court parties, is a charming dress made of white Liberty with a black tulle drape with woven gold stripes. The waist is circled and a framboise velvet ribbon shimmers across the chest, that of the casaque made of black tulle. is muted. The casaque is divided at the front and back on the skirt and is joined again at its lower edge. The cleanup of the two ends is marked by a small gold and framboise velvet stitch. Another large Indian white satin soiree dress is covered with a white mousseline de soie tunique cut obliquely with flowers painted on cord, the outlines of which are embroidered with steel beads. The emerald green velvet door casts a dazzling light effect on the entire toilet. The décolleté isttzurch MsaWÄmeSW^Ichmückt The coats take up a lot of space. Brquttoilctie, though destined for summer, includes a splendid cloak, which will certainly cause a stir at court festivities in Munich. It is made of white ermine with a large collar and arctic fox cuffs, and the inside is lightly lined with Liberty and lace.
A royal blue Liberty coat covered with mousseline and lined with white Liberty and gauze is destined for the move-in toilet in Munich, which is scheduled to be used between August 6th and 7th. For the winter, there is a fur coat that is as practical as it is precious and tasteful, with a wide collar and cuffs in oppessum with internal trimmings and wide lapels in silver pointed, to which belongs a boa in white fox dotted with black. The entrance toilet for Munich is of course kept in the Bavarian country colors in blue and white. The white eponge dress with a kimono waist and smooth skirt is richly encrusted with real filets. The lingerie is silver gray and her wide belt is royal blue. Of course, the princess has a rich selection of thin, delicate high-form toilets. A dress of light-blue crepon in a princess-style has a casaque marked by soutache stickers, just as the whole skirt is richly soutache-laced. The waist is finished with a light blue belt.
Another midsummer costume is a light blue linen batiste robe, also in the form of a princess, so tasteful and yet so distinguished by encrusted Malines lace and by a collar of white batiste edged with blue, and by the same finish on the skirt hem and on the sleeves seems that it must suit the young woman perfectly. A half-height? Light blue Liberty day dress with white lace and an arrangement of light blue velvet and gauze at the waist has a light blue belt with a rhinestone buckle and a basque-style lace arrangement at the skirt. A white linen midsummer dress has a lovely embroidered Madeira jacket and a blue and white chine belt. In addition to the robes and the midsummer toilets, the practical needs of everyday life and the cooler days are not forgotten either. A princess dress of thin prime cloth, with little buttons and piping in a cerlse shade, has sleeves and guipure in gold embroidery and mousseline; a jacket made of the same cloth with wide lapels and gold-embroidered collar goes well with it. A gray changeant taffeta dress is next to a gray and a cream suit, and a Liberty trotteur dress is not forgotten either. The hats show the whole diversity of this year's fashion. To cater to all tastes, we see broad and short, tall and flat, flowered and heron-decorated hats of the simple and trimmed genres. The linen is composed with simple but exquisite taste. It is mostly made of delicate linen cambric, but linen and silk are also used extensively, as well as real lace and hand embroidery. Elaborate ajours run through the basic material, and Jrishguipures and Malines, Valenciennes and thick modern Bohemian lace, like the products of Austrian and Hungarian cottage industries, are a reminder that the bride's aunt, Archduchess Jsabella, takes it upon herself to promote the native arts and to protect. A rich collection of the most delicate silk and fil d'Ecosse stockings and shoes in all colors, which, like the stockings, mostly go with special toilets Valenciennes and thick modern Bohemian lace, like the products of Austrian and Hungarian domestic industry, are a reminder that the bride's aunt, Archduchess Isabella, took it upon himself to promote and protect local art.
