This emerald art deco choker was given from the Maharanees of Kapurthala and Patiala, to Queen Mary on the occassion of the indian durbar on 12th December 1911 at the Purdah party. The Maharaja of Kapurthala had noted it in his dairies, he probably spend the emeralds, he was a great admirer of Queen Mary and known as the "king of emeralds" of the time. The gift from the ladies of india - all Maharanis of India was the carved emerald brooch.
Queen Mary wore the art deco emerald and diamond choker often at the opera, it was later given to Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, and was than a present from the Queen Elizabeth II, to Diana Princess of Wales.
Princess Catherine wore the "Queen Mary's Art Deco Emerald Choker" with new Emerald & Diamond Halo Earrings mounted in Platinum.
