The Queen never mixed sapphire and emerald, so it is another piece
as the last one. This comes from the possession of the Empress Maria
Feodorovna of Russia, with an large oval sapphire and the design is
with an characteristic art-deco pattern, more flat as the first one.
Princess Margrethe wore this tiara in the 50th, so it is not altered
till this time. In the middle Queen Mary wore a small, delicate diamond
tiara with diamond scrollwork >>>>>
Sophie Countess of Wessex wearing a diamond tiara with
an very large oval aquamarine as center-piece, it looks, as if the centre
stone of the tiara can be easily taken out and perhaps replaced by other
gem, it´s also wearable as necklace.
The bandeau was invoiced by Garrard on 1 April 1926 (Garrard RL3, fol. 116, £688 10s). Queen Mary in 1947, wearing the bandeau that she preferred in later life, purchased in 1925 and set (detachably) with 11 Cambridge emeralds in the early 1930s.
The bandeau was bequeathed by Queen Mary to the Duchess of Kent in 1953, without the emeralds. The diamond bandeau is worn by Princess Alexandra and later by the Duchess Katherine of Kent.
When she was eighteen Princess Margaret borrowed a tiara from her grandmother
Queen Mary. This diamond bandeau had lozenge-shaped motifs and was originally
surmounted by 13 large oval oriental pearls set on spikes.
By 1946, however, Queen Mary have removed the pearls. In September 1948,
the eighteen-year-old Princess wore it when on one of her first offical
engagements she represented King George VI at the Inauguration of Queen
Juliana of the Netherlands in Amsterdam, the Dutch equivalent of a coronation".source:Field
