The wedding gift from the Duchess of Portland was a Mercury stick, also known as a Caduceus in diamond, gold and with pearls. The winged brooch was presented in 1893 as wedding gift. Queen Mary, when she was Duchess of York, in the picture above is wearing the royal jewel.On the same way she wore the cadeuceaus brooch on the wedding of her brother Prince Adolphus of Teck with Lady Margaret Grosvenor, 12 December 1894, in Eton Hall. Sometimes she wore the caduceus brooch pinned on her throught. The Caduceus-Brooch, was also seen on her, on a visit in Coburg 1896 and when she visit the Duke and Duchess of Fife with her father-in-law the Prince of Wales, later King Eduard of Great Britain..
