Spectacular jewelry belonged first to Lady Blanche Howard de Walden, Lady Ludlow and then Margherita Lady Howard de Walden. The important diamond starburst tiara was altered after 1890 when Lady Ludlow and Howard de Walden wore an earlier version of that diamond tiara with oak leaves and acorns.
Lady Howard de Walden, née Countess Irene von Harrach, was Patron of Queen Charlotte's Birthday Ball. On that occasion in 1965, she was pictured above with the diamond starburst tiara.
"The Hon. Mrs. John Scott-Ellis, Lord Howard de Walden's only son married his beautiful wife who was Countess Irene von Harrach in 1934>> they live in Chapel Street, off Belgrave Square, with their two daughters.
Mrs. Scott-Ellis was hostess for her mother-in-law, Lady Howard de Walden, who is in Africa, at a morning party at Seaford House last week. This was for the mothers of the debutantes who will process at Queen Charlotte's Birthday Ball in May, the annual event in aid of the hospital of which Lord Howard de Walden is president."
