Juwelen Geschenke zur Hochzeit für Lady Elizabeth - Duchess of York
Anlässlich der Vermählung von Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon mit dem Prinzen Albert, Herzog von York, Sohn des Königs und der Königin von England
Sapphire Jewels given from Queen Mary
Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon received some jewels from the Queen, her mother-in-law as wedding gifts.
The suite of sapphires and diamonds consisting of a sapphire and diamond necklace with probably 30 larger and smaller sapphire clusters surrounded of diamonds with fringes and a bracelet to match the brooch, is pictured on top.
I think she used older items from her own wedding gifts, for the diamond fringes>>
Both a probably rebuilt in an new fashionable large art-deco sautoir, which was not often worn by the young Duchess of York, in public and seen above on the Duchess. It must be an important item, but the where-about isn't known.
The diamond scroll corsage brooch in the center of the picture above, with an oval sapphire in the center and two pendants in different length with smaller sapphires, was one of the jewels which still consist and was very often worn from the Queen Consort Elizabeth.
The half-hoop ring with three collet diamonds, is seen above.
The cluster brooch with an oval facetted sapphire
- was later given to Princess Margaret and it's now in the possession of her daughter Lady Sarah Snowdon-Chatto>>
The Tiara above worn by the Duchess of York, is build of a set of four diamond and gem-set bracelets, made by Cartier London in 1925 -three of the Bracelets worn as a Bandeau. These four matching Cartier diamond-strip bracelets have different baguette centres: sapphire, emerald, ruby and diamond.
