Prinzessin Elisabeth hinterlies diesen Schmuck ihrer Enkelin Prinzessin
heiratete Prinz Andreas von Griechenland und Dänemark (1882-1944);
zweiten Tochter des Marquess and Marchioness of Milford Haven, die
1923 den König Gustaf VI. Adolf von Schweden (1882-1973) heiratete,
sie war seine 2. Frau.

This antique emerald and diamond pendant brooch, the
rectangular emerald and circular-cut diamond cluster centre in diamond
foliage surround set with one square, one pear-shaped and two circular-cut
emeralds, suspending two small rectangular emerald and diamond drops
and three larger pear-shaped emeralds and diamond pendants, all detachable,

The emerald and diamond corsage ornament, originally
belonged to Elisabeth (1815-1885) Princess Karl of Hesse-Darmstadt,
born Princess of Prussia.
She left the corsage ornament to her grand-daughter
Princess Victoria (sister of Alexandra of Hesse, later the Empress
Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia). She married Prince Ludwig of Battenberg.
Victoria Marchioness of Milford Haven left it to her second daughter,
Queen Louise of Sweden (the former Lady Louise Mountbatten).
Later it was given to Princess Sophia of Greece, Princess Christoph of Hesse and later married to Prince Georg Wilhelm of Hannover, Duchess of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. She wore the emerald-brooch in the picture above.
The Fürst of Thurn and Taxis bought this item
for his wife in 1982 and sold it again after 10 years to pay death
duties.
