Brosche und Konfirmationsgeschenk an die britische Königin Elisabeth II, im Jahr 1942 an die damalige Prinzessin Elizabeth von York von Ihrer Großmutter Queen Mary.

.............Sechzehn Jahre alt in diesem Monat. .

Queen Elizabeth II | Confirmation Brooch Turquoise and Diamond Brooch gift of Queen Mary 1942|Royal Jewels Great Britain and Ireland

March 28th 1942 - Princess Elizabeth Confirmed Princess Elizabeth, who will be sixteen next month, was confirmed by the Archbishop Canterbury in the private chapel of Windsor Castle Saturday.

The Queen Mary presented a Turquoise Diamond Flower brooch to her granddaughter on this occassion. It's probably part of her own turquoise wedding gift from her parents the Duke and Duchess of Teck, which was build also of three brooches had originally been a confirmation present in December 1850 to Queen Mary's mother. The size and shapes of the turquoises are similar to the top of her turquoise tiara.
(later altered as wedding gift for the Duchess of Glouchester).

Princess Elizabeth, who will be 16 next month, was confirmed ty the Archbishop of Canterbury in the private chapel of Windsor Castle on Saturday. The Archbishop was assisted by the Dean of Windsor, Dr. Baillie, and Canon Crawley. The King and Queen, Queen Mary, Princess Margaret and Princess Royal were present in Ihe chapel, and members of the Royal Household also attended. The Archbishop of Canterbury preached a sermon.

Princess's Confirmation duties could have given the retiring Archbishop of Canterbury more satisfaction on the eve of giving up his office than the task of confirming Princess Elizabeth. Dr. Lang has been close friend of the Royal Family throughout his primacy, and it was almost an open secret that he desired to confirm the Princess before leaving it. The fact that his resignation takes place in Holy Week, which is always immediately preceded by confirmations all parts of the country, made it easier for this wish to be fulfilled. The Princess will now be able to take her first Communion at the Easter Festival. She will be jolneu, it is understood, by her parents at a celebration in the Private Chapel which they attend when the country. In other circumstances should probably have seen the Princess taking a much more active part in public life from now onwards. Requests are constantly being received by the King and Queen to permit the Princess associate herself with some public movement, but they have adhered to a long-established policy that she should enjoy her girlhood uninterrupted by the responsibility of public duties.

SIXTEEN YEARS OLD THIS MONTH. . HER ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCESS ELIZABETH, elder daughter of T.M. the King and Queen and heir-presumptive to the Throne will celebrate her sixteenth birthday on April 21. This has been an eventful year for her. In February it was announced that the King had approved her appointment to be Colonel Grenadier Guards. This is the first official position which her Royal Highness has occupied and it is her introduction to the Army. It is also the first time in the history of the senior regiment of Foot Guards that a lady has been its Colonel. Last week it was announced that the confirmation of Princess Elizabeth had taken place in the private chapel of Windsor Castle. The then Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Ising) officiated.

The Turquoise Diamond Flower brooch was seen in public again, worn by Camilla the Queen Consort in 2023 at the state visit at Berlin Germany, the 29th of March.
