Story of the important emerald jewels of Nancy Leeds, Princess Anastasia of Greece-Denmark the Dollar Princess.
Anastasia, Princess of Greece and Denmark née Nonie May Stewart (1878-1923). She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, to William Charles Stewart, a wealthy merchant and his first wife Mary Holden.
The first versions with Emerald and Diamond Epaulette Brooch, Emerald and Diamond Tiara, Emerald and Diamond Brooches, Emerald and Diamond Necklace with pear shaped pendants.

Mrs William B. Leeds with her marvelous gowns and jewels caused the greatest astonishment in Paris society, especially when her wonderful collection of emeralds was recently increased.
To the well-known tiara and necklace of these stones she has now added a superb stomacher, bought at Cartier for $140.000. The dazzling array of emeralds in the possession of Mrs Leeds is now estimated by experts to be worth a good deal over a million dollars.
Nany Leeds emerald and diamond epaulette was reset in 1921 when it was bombined with the emerald from a lavalliere dating from 1911, see both above in the picture.
Cartier produce a long large sautoir, the largest emerald necklace, worn by Mrs Leeds on the left side in Laszlo portrait.
May "Nancy" Stewart Worthington Leeds (1884-1923), a very wealthy American widow, married Prince Christopher of Greece and Denmark and granted the title HRH Princess Anastasia, The Princess Christopher of Greece and Denmark.
Her fortune, which she inherited from her second husband, a tin millionaire, greatly helped the Greek Royal Family during their exile in the 1920s. Shortly after their marriage she developed cancer, and died in London on 29 August 1923, leaving no children from this marriage.
