Around 20 gigantic cases with brass fittings contain the royal trousseau, which will accompany Princess Sophie of Prussia to her new home in Greece. First and foremost, there is the bridal toilet. It is covered with precious Renaissance embroidery along the 3 1/2 meter long satin train, which is bordered all around with myrtle and orange blossom branches. The skirt is adorned with four lengthwise Venetian lace stripes, each bordered by a hand-wide myrtle garland, myrtle and orange blossoms along the silver bib of the waist and the puffed sleeves, precious Venetian lace at the neckline, sideways on the white satin drapery of the skirt a cornucopia of white blossoms . The bridal train is embroidered from drap d'argant and has employed twenty of the best embroiderers for three months. This is the Empress of Russia's wedding gift to her niece.

Princess Sophie's wedding presents were not exhibited to the public. The crown princess of the Hellenes got:

From Emperor William - her brother
a diadem - a graceful triple-rowed construction, very hight, the turquoise of great size and diamonds and three rows of turquoises, each larger than the other, and rising one above another, are surrounded by elegant arabesques (the arabesques of tiny brilliants to hold them together in the diadem). The largest turquoises, in the form of pears, from crownshaped points, set around with large diamonds. Towards both ends the diadem becomes narrower.

The necklace has the form of bows of ribbons, worked in diamonds, with large turquoises for the knots, between three lines of diamonds ( -like the two bracelet or the choker, of Princess Astrid of Norway - yes see the match above )

a matching brooch of diamonds and turquoises

Attached to the necklace was a magnificent and very valuable cross inlaid with exceptionally beautiful turquoises.
It was an heirloom of the British royal family that is said to have belonged originally to Queen Anne.
Having come into the possession of Princess Charlotte of Wales, daughter of George IV. her husband, afterwards Leopold of the Belgians, made a present of it to Queen Victoria.
The Queen gave it to the then Princess Royal, who, as Empress Frederick, has now bestowed it upon her daughter.

From her mother has also given her
- a bracelet composed of a large round turquoise surrounded by diamonds, which can also be used as brooches.

Probably the way of the royal-imperial turquoises are :
From Queen Alexandra - given to Queen Maud of Norway then to her daughter-in-law Maerthe Crown Princess of Norway>>
The turquoises are now in the possession of Princess Astrid of Norway - it match perfect the describtion of the details.

The weather on the Royal wedding morning at Athens was gloriously fine "King's weather" the people called it. The King Greece, like Queen Victoria, proverbially lucky the matter of auspicious skies for occasions. All day there had been a delicious scent of myrtle throughout the streets the city, where it had been profusely used in the decorations. In fact, Athens had been transformed into a town of myrtle. The whole town was mass of flags and evergreens, with triumphal arches all the principal street intersections. At an early hour the town was filled with people from the surrounding country, and the national costumes of the peasants added much to the pictnresqueness of the scene. At o'clock salute of five guns was fired, and forthwith the bugle calls rang out from all points about the town through the clear morning air. if by magic the greatest animation once appeared in the streets, which during the next few hours developed into enthusiasm of the wildest description that Athens has ever seen. Along the route followed by the bridal procession every inch vantage ground was taken up. All the stands in the N ue de .-cade, the Rue d'Ecole, the Rue d'Hermis, and the Place de Concorde, were filled with people, the streets themselves were crowded with people their holiday attire, and all anxious to get a sight of the bride and the utmost enjoyment out of the wedding festivit es. The people were in the most enthusiastic humour, and all along the road there was continual cheering and waving of hats, flags, and hankerchiefs. All the windows which afforded a view of the procession were occupied by ladies, gentlemen, and children, and thousands of the people viewed the parade from the roofs houses. The streets were lined soldiers. For weeks there had been the keenest desire obtain tickets for the Cathedral witness the wedding ceremony, and those w ho were lucky enough to get them citne early. But there was plenty to interest them during the long wait.

The first lady to appear in the diplomatic circle was lime. Ylakos, in a magnificent Greek costume of white, red, and gold. Next came Mme. Traubenborg in a Court costume, with a pink train and a white satin front, surmounted headdress with pink band, ornamented with diamond stars, from which depended a They were closely followed Olanesko, in a sky blue dress, with a gold train; Princess antzo, in costume of red velvet, with pink cut en train, with pink front trimmed with gold, and a grand display of diamonds: Mme. Rackmetiew, wearing a Russian costume of orange and gold ; Ojeda, whose dress was admirably set off the white spanish mantilla about her head; Baroness Kosjek, light blue dress, trimmed with gold embroidery: Lady Monson, in pretty pink silk costume, trimmed with gold. After awhile the ladies of the Court appeared, headed, Theocheri, Mme. Bapountzakis, and Mme. Anargyro, wearing the national Greek Court costume.

Their entrance was immediately followed by that of 96 ladies belonging to the suites of the Empress of Germany, the Queen of Italy, the Princess of Wales, and the Empress Frederick, these of the latter being all dressed in sombre colours.

Count Herbert Bismarck, in the Court dress a Minister, attracted every eye. The bishops and archbishops, in their gorgeous satin and gold raiment, stood in a line behind the table, while the Metropolitan of Athens stood in front supported on each side by a priest, holding two candles symbolic of the Father and Son, and the other three, symbolic of the Father, Son, and Holy Gbcst. The Royal party left the palace at eleven o'clock.

The bride looked very happy, but appeared to be a trifle nervous. Nevertheless, she gracefully bowed her acknowledgements of the applause the people, who were all much pleased with her girlish sweetness. the arrival of the Royal party at the Cathedral, the Metropolitan met them at the door.

The company entered the church in the following order:— The French Ambassador, accompanied the Empress of Germany: the Emperor of Germany, escorting the Empress Frederick; the King of Denmark, accompanied by the Queen of Italy ; the Prince of Wales, accompanied by the Queen of Denmark : Prince Henry of Prussia and the Princess of Wales, the Czarewitch and the Princess of Saxe-Meiningen.

Then followed the Duke of Sparta and the Princess Sophie. The ceremony commenced at once, the Empress Frederick leading her daughter to the table, and the King of Greece his son. The King gave his hand the Empress Frederick, and they both retired. The was of the most impressive character, and lasted an hour and a quarter. The wedding ceremony was very remarkable account of the simple dignity of the service.
It was conducted the Metropolitan of Athens, Gerraanos, assisted by the Archbishops and Bishops of Greece, all magnificent vestments. A platform, about foot high, had been erected, which occupied a good half of the floor beneath the dome in front of the altar. On the centre of this platform was a table made of the sacred stone which is described length further on. it were two candelabra, one at each end. each burning seven candles. Two cups were also there, and a large Bible. Bound about were some 30 orchoristers, each carrying a lighted candle of very large size, no organ in a Greek church, nevertheless the singing was very good. the platform nearest the table stood the Prince the Duke of Sparta, and Princess Sophie Immediately behind them stood Prince George, the popular sailer-brother of the bridegroom, the semicircle immediately behind the bride and bridegroom were the King and of Greece, the Empress Frederick, the Emperor and Empress of Germany, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Czarewitch. Prince Nicholas, and the remainder of the royalties. Below the platform, in their full Court costumes, were the chief members of the Royal suites. On the left were the Diplomatic Corps, the Admirals of tbe Fleets, and the Government Ministers: on the right were the distinguished Generals and envoys, and in the body of the church were the mayors and delegates from all parts of Greece. The church was not specially decorated.

The Metropolitan of Athens, who dignified looking personage, with a long iron-grey beard, began to read the ancient Greek wedding service, after which the Communion was taken bv the bride and bridegroom. came a series of prayers applicable to the conditions of married life, and the Metropolitan, approaching the young couple, and taking off the engagement rings they wore, supplemented them by the wedding rings. These placed the third finger, and. taking them off again, repla them with the engagement rings, and again turn replaced these the wedding rings. These three changes are symbolical the Greek Church. Tha rings had previously been solemnly blessed. Instead of the usual ceremony with crowns of orange blossoms, at the special request of the Queen of Greece, gold crowns surmounted the cross were used.
This was held over the head of the bride three times Prince Henry of Prussia, Prince Edward and Prince George of Wales, and over the head of the bridegroom the Czarewitch, and Princes and Nicholas of Greece. This ceremony was again repeated when the bride and groom had walked round the table three times. The Metropolitan, in placing the rings the fingers of the Royal couple said, addressing the Princess first. This completed the wedding ceremony. The moment the young were united, munificent burst of red light poured through the coloured windows of the Cathedral, suffusing the bride and groom and producing a marvellous effect upon the brilliant uniforms and beautiful The ceremony completed.

Princess Sophie kissed three times the Greece, Queen of Greece, the Empress Frederick, the Empress of Germany and the Queen of Italy.

She then kissed once each the Prince Wales and the Princess of Wales and Princesses. The Emperor of Germany kissed tils mother heartily three times. The crowns used were those with which the King and Queen of Greece were married. The Empress Frederick wore a grey dress, while all the rest the U'-y»l ladies appearea in white with their usual ceremon al ewels and decorations. The Emperor Germany wore the full dre«s uniform of the White Hussars, and the Prioce cf Wales the Guards. Prince Albert Victor was dressed the full uniform of the Hussars. The King Greece and the King of Denmark wore the the Greek Cavalry

The bridal dress was made of white satin, with long trails orange blossoms. The enormous trim of brocaded silk was held by the three maids honour. The party returned to the palace in the same order in which they came, the Duke Sparta and tbe Princess Sophie drove through the open barouche amid the greatest enthusiasm. At night the whole town was illuminated, and the entire population and all the visitors from the surrounding country paraded tbe streets cbeerirg and shouting. the last moment the illuminations were spoiled a violent gale wind. The newly married couple gave a breakfast their new home after ceremony. Some few years ago, during some excavations, a very remarkable and curious slab stone was excavated at rotia. be inscription upon it showed that it had been brought from Jerusalem, probably by some Byzantine king. This stone was transferred to the old cathedral, and has lain there since, source of much interest to visitors and of mysterious revenues to the natives. The Queen of Greece, who is exceedingly religious, insisted that this holy stone should be used as a table at which tbe marriage ceremony was performed, and there it was, covered over with crimson velvet; and before it the young couple knelt, and over it the Metropolitan gave his blessing to the future King and Queen Greece. The history goes that Jesus Christ sac on this stone Galilee.

Most of the articles in the splendid trousseau the Princess were made Germany, principally at Berlin and Frankfurt. There has been no public exhibition of them as a whole, but (says the Berlin correspondent of the London Standard) I am able to supply a description of the most important articles in the collection. With regard, the first place, to the wedding dress, the skirt and body are of the richest white satin, and are real works of art. tablier of silver brocade, made in Lyons, fastened with rich feather trimming and genuine hand-made Venetian lace, which sets off the silver brilliantly, is inserted in the skirt. the body this lace decoration continued trimming, and surrounds centre-piece, on which a chaste artistic ornament is embroidered in silver threads and silver cords. Both skirt and body are adorned with narrow twists of myrtles and orange-blossoms. the skirt this white and green decoration, with its suggestion of vernal fragrance, falls from the waist to the lower border, round which runs as edging. On the right side splendid bouquet the same blossoms is added below. The finest thing of all the round train, more than lift long and nearly sft. broad, the white satin of which is embroidered with a splendid Renaissance tendril pattern of silver threads and cords low and high relief.

The effect of this robe extremely beautiful, far surpassing all the 17 other dresses, despite all the splendour of their materials and colours, and the artistic beauty of tbeir designs.

They, too. however, are genuine pearls of exquisite taste. The highest degree of airy delicacy is attained a robe of yellow tulle, the body and border of which are adorned with flat-stitch embroidery many-coloured threads of silk and gold, and with sewed-on spangles of mother of-pearl. From the border rise embroidered lancet-shaped leaves, bouquet of yellow feathers, with silk bow of the same colour, adorns the body. Another robe, furnished with train, produces ethereal but more splendid effect. It is of bluedamask, and has piece of tiffany inserted in the left side with flat-stitch embroidery in white silk threads, while full-blown white roses rest on the shoulders. Another, trainless drawing-room drea- of crime voile, with coloured hand-embroidery and insertion of yellow silk, over which airy lace is thrown, is remarkable for the mild tone of its colours. A trainless drawing-room dress of salmon-coloured damasked silk, trimmed with tiffany in harmony with its rosopink tone; another drawing-room dress of black damasked silk, with a jet insertion and a body decorated with jet; and a magnificent robe of Nile green silk, with an insertion of white tiffany, adorned with bouquets of rosea and with a train, also deserve special notice. Besides these there are other dresses well worthy of mention—a drawing-room dress of mild pink crepe Chine, with a broad lace insertion, and a body covered with lace ; Pompadour robe of greenish-grey silk, into which many coloured little bouquets of flowers are wrought, with a tablier of salmon-coloured silk, with genuine Valenciennes thrown over it; a drawingroom dress of white gold brocade, with crepe Chine tablier and gold embroidery, and bouquet of white ostrich and herons'feathers; a fawn-coloured walking-dress of Indian cashmere with a broad palmleaf border embroidered in white, red, and blue silk threads; a foulard dress with white and blue stripes: and, finally, a robe of grey voile trimmed with lace and gold embroidery. All these dresses have corresponding head and breast ornaments of feathers and bows. Some of them have two bodies, a low and a high one, so that they can be worn both at parties and on visits. Some of tbe mantles and mantelets I must also briefly mention. First, there is long travelling cloak of grey ge, with plaits in front and behind. Another very beautiful one a black lace mantelet, with long flying sleeves and jet ornaments. A perfect miracle of grace and delicacy is little visiting-cloak of white cripe de Chine, with white Marabout tringes.

The most costly of all is mantelet made of an Indian shawl given by the Empress of India. This shawl, hand-woven of wool of wonderful delicacy, is so fine that, large it is, could be drawn through a wedding-ring. In order to make a mantelet of it, this shawl has not been cut, but sewed up as the purpose required. It is trimmed and hung with various coloured passementerie, with inserted gold threads.

The lace of the Royal bride corresponds in every respect to the splendour of her dresses. The finest piece of all is flounce of white Point Venise of extraordinary beauty. It is thirty-five centimetres in height, and its pattern shows intertwined tendrils of myitles and roses with flowers laid on. There are also narrow pieces of the same pattern corresponding to it. Of equal beauty is a black Chantilly flounce of more than a metre in height, with a large and rich flower pattern. This, too, has narrow pieces to match it, and splendidly-finished barbes and fans. There also an tely tasteful pink mating of the jacket form, with close-fitting back. It is trimmed all round with costly Valenciennes and insertions. home dress has been made from a model expressly designed for the Royal bride. It is of the most dellcate creme, and has wide Greek sleeves with Alenqon insertions and lace. The whole is girt by broad cream-coloured ribbon, which falls in long strips in front. The morning dresses, be worn after the batb, are of white wool, richly trimmed with satin of the same colour. The white silk night-gowns are trimmed with lovely coloured lace. It is not surprising that the Princess's lace is of superlative beauty and excellence, for it known that her mother, the Empress Frederick, is not only one of the best living judges lace, but also possesses collection of such delicate fabrics, considerably surpassing many public collections value, and especially in taste. The Princess's linen worth 25,000 marks. The chemises are of German linen, some of them, as already mentioned, of silk, and richly trimmed with embroidery and lace. Those of the night-gowns which are not of silk are of tbe finest cbamboie, and trimmed partly with lace-jabots, partly with diagonal embroidered insertions, the effect of which enhanced by coloured lawn under them. There are some also with little crush-folds and broad, turneddown collars. Some of the Indian silk handkerchiefs are quite white, others white with coloured borders. The monogram, a crowned Latin S, is executed in artistic white embroidery. The French lawn handkerchiefs are adorned with coloured embroidered borders in small designs and genuine Valenciennes. The design of the border is elegantly repeated in the same colour the monogram. Others of the handkerchiefs are adorned with fancy seams. morning jackets are most tastefully trimmed with whito cambric and the richest embroidery. Tbe bed linen is adorned with fine seams and hand embroidery, in which, among other things, the Greek fret occasionally turns as the design. The table linen is of heavy damask. To the trousseau belong five dainty little hats toque form, tine small white hat, with white embroidery. gold lace, and a tuit of feathers, is especially pretty : a spcond covered with velvet flowers, and trimmed wi'h gold lace and a pinkish white feather. A little Mack velvet hat is ornamented with jet, and has red feathers; dark blue velvet one is embroidered With silver and bine, and has navy blue feathers: and lastly, the fifth is trimmed with lace and heron feathers. Resides these, the august bride will receive eleven arrangements of flowers and feathers.

The jewel casket of the august bride is a perfect work of art leather : it is covered with red morocco, bears the monogram of tbe Princess in chased bronze, and lined with thick red velvet.
