Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaijevna| Princess of Montenegro | Duchess of Leuchtenberg | Romanov Emeralds of the Nikolaevich

Princess Anastasia Petrović-Njegoš of Montenegro 1868-1935 was the third (of eight)daughter of King Nikola I Petrović-Njegoš of Montenegro 1841–1921 and his wife, Queen Milena 1847–1923.

She became Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov of Russia when she married Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich in 1907 after a longtime friendship, when she was still the wife of Duke of Leuchtenberg.

Her husband, Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich, was a descendant of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia (1796–1855) he was his grandson through a direct male line. His mother was Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna Romanova, she sold half of her emerald parure for building a monastery, the rest she gave to her son. We could see one of the ornaments of the large emeralds with ivy leaf ornaments worn by Grand Duchess Anastasia, below.
