Emerald and Diamond Brooch of the Ladies of North Wales | Royal Wedding Present Queen Alexandra

Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on the Investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969

Emerald and Diamond Brooch of the Ladies of North Wales | Royal Wedding Present Queen Alexandra| Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on the Investiture of Prince of Wales ady Williams Wynn organized a subscription for local women to donate for a gift. Lady Williams Winn’s father spent many years as England’s representative at the Royal Court in Denmark and she was described as being on intimate terms with the Danish Court.
The money raised was used to create three items of jewelry: this brooch, a pair of diamond and emerald earrings, and the smaller Prince of Wales Brooch The jewels were made by Garrard and all set in Welsh gold from Merionethshire.
This brooch, called The Leek Jewel in press articles from the time, is described as, “there are 15 large brilliants in the sides and upper part of the oval; these represent the 15 tribes of Wales. The bottom represents a ribbon with green edges, formed of emeralds, on which is the motto, “I’n Tywysoges No,” i.e., “To our own Princess.” The letters of these words are formed of small diamonds. The leek itself, in the center, is of emerald. The drop, at the bottom, is also an emerald. This is a very elegant ornament, and can be worn either as a brooch or a locket.”
It was written that the present was graciously received by Queen Alexandra when it was presented at to her at Marlborough House and she expressed great admiration for its design.

Queen EliZabeth II|Diamond Star Brooch

When the Queen of the United Kingdom met the President of the USA and Mrs Dr Biden, she wore her diamond star brooch, a gift from her parents.

To all important occasion the Queen, wore a jewel with a history background, or personal memory, not only a gift from a unknown lady:

Queen Elizabeth II |16th Birthday Gift from the King and Queen of England| Royal Jewels Great Britain and Irland

Earlier the brooch was called the ‚Jardine Star Brooch‘ and is said to have been left to The Queen by someone called Lady Jardine in 1981, but these are wrong.

Author Leslie Field in wrote in her book ‚The Queen’s Jewels‘ but it’s false.

This gift she received from her parents in wartime and was her coming out birthday in 1942.
