Der Badische Beobachter von 1867 schreibt: Die Edelsteine, welche der Graf von Flandern seiner jetzigen Gemahlin Marie Luise zu Hohenzollern als Brautgeschenk überreicht hat, repräsentieren einen Werth von 1,000,500 Franken. Diese Kleinodien bilden einen Theil des Schmucks der Prinzessin Charlotte, der ersten Gattin Leopold’s I. von Belgien, welcher sie dem Grafen von Flandern schenkte. Der Graf besitzt übrigens eine große Auswahl von Edelsteinen, darunter ein Malteserkreuz, welches 1408 Brillanten enthält.

Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo della Cisterna 1847-1876 war Königin von Spanien (1870–1873) und Herzogin von Aosta (1867–1876).
Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo wurde in Paris als älteste Tochter von Carlo Emmanuele dal Pozzo, 5. Fürst von Cisterna, und dessen Gemahlin Louise Caroline Ghislaine, Gräfin von Mérode, geboren. Nach dem Tod ihres Vaters 1864 erbte sie dessen Titel und wurde so Fürstin von Cisterna und Belriguardo, Marchesa von Voghera und Gräfin von Ponderano.
Am 30. Mai 1867 heiratete sie in Turin Amadeus, Herzog von Aosta den zweiten Sohn des italienischen Königs Viktor Emmanuels II. mehr dazu:
Als ihr Gemahl am 16. November 1870 zum spanischen König gewählt wurde, avancierte sie zur spanischen Königin. Sie widmete sich vor allem wohltätigen Projekten. Ihr Gatte dankte bereits 2 Jahre später, am 11. Februar 1873, ab.

PROVENANCE OF THE IMPERIAL SAPPHIRE PARURE
A cord in writing, found between the boxes of jewels, stated that these sapphire jewels were given to Grand Duchess Stephanie of Baden, by her cousin Hortense de Beauharnais, Queen of Holland.
Such an origin is very likely. In many paintings Queen Hortense of Holland, and her mother Empress Josephine, can be seen wearing precious belts. Furthermore, Hortense’s financial papers, which are kept in the Napoléon archive in Paris, give evidence of her fortune between 1817 and 1837, the year she passed away. They show that she left Paris in 1816 with little money, but a lot of jewellery.
After Grand Duchess Stephanie’s of Baden death in 1860 the sapphire parure described as
‘necklace, pendant, earrings, seven pins and a belt’
was inherited by Stephanie’s second daughter, Josephine, Princess of Hohenzollern Sigmaringen.
See at the coronation picture, the sisters of Napoleon Caroline, Pauline, Elise and Hortense are in court gown with „jeweled belts“ and „bandeau head ornaments“ also stetted with large pins of precious centers, like the brooches and pins.
Under Napoléon’s court, belts decorated with precious stones were part of any jewellery parure, as fashion dictated that the waist was very high on dresses and court ladies needed a belt which was placed just under the décolleté. More about the history:
