Art Deco Diamond Bandeau Tiara Duchess Marina of Kent
An all diamond scroll pattern tiara with brilliant custer centre and entourage of baquette diamonds, was one of the wedding gifts of the Duke of Kent to his bride. It was noted in the royal wedding gift list.
The Duchess of Kent wore the diamond tiara in her earlier times on some occassion, see the picture below.
The bride, who met Prince Dominique only three months ago at the wedding of the Crown Prince Paul, was given away by her father, Prince George of Greece.

The witnesses for the bride, who is a first cousin of the Duchess of Kent, were Prince Valdemar of Denmark, her great-uncle , and her father and for the bridegroom, Prince Jerome Radziwill, his father , and Archduke Charles Albert of Hapsburg, The congregation included Princess Sixtus of Bourbon-Parma , Prince and Princess Rene of Bourbon-Parma, Princess Alex of Denmark , Grand Duke Dimitri, Princess Margaret of Denmark , Princess Alexandra of Greece, Prince Eric of Denmark, Prince and Princess Vigo of Denmark. Dem „Temps“ wird aus Petersburg über die Reisepläne des Kaisers Nikolaus berichtet: Am 14. oder 15. September 1903 gedenkt der Zar, der gegenwärtig jagt, nach Darmstadt zu dem gewohnten Aufenthalte bei den Verwandten der Kaiserin zu fahren. Diesmal gibt es für seine Anwesenheit in Darmstadt noch einen besonderen Grund: Die bevorstehende Vermählung des Prinzen AndreasvonGriechenland, des jüngsten Sohnes des Königs Georg, mit einer Prinzessin von Battenberg. Gegen Ende des Monats, wahrscheinlich am 24., begiebt der Zar sich in die Steiermark, um mit dem Kaiser von Oesterreich zu jagen. Doch begleitet Graf Lemsdorff seinen Gebieter dorthin, woraus man schliessen darf, dass die beiden Kaiser sich nicht blos dem Jagdvergnügen widmen, sondern sich ernstlich mit den orientalischen Angelegenheiten beschäftigen werden. Nach dem Aufenthalt in Oesterreich wird der Zar nach Darmstadt zurückkehren und bis Ende October, 1903 bis zur Reise nach Italien (-wurde später abgesagt-), dort bleiben. Während der Anwesenheit des Zarenpaares findet die Einweihung der auf der Mathildenhöhe erbauten Russischen Kapelle statt, in welcher am 7. October Prinz Andreas von Griechenland und die Prinzessin Alice von Battenberg den Bund für das Leben schließen werden. Die Trauung findet, wie wir bereits meldeten, auch nach protestantischen Ritus statt.
Ein sehr grosszügiges Geschenk brachte der Zar zur Hochzeit mit. Prinzessin Alice erhielt ein wahrlich imperiales Hochzeitsgeschenk von Ihrer Tante Alexandra, der Schwester Ihrer Mutter Victoria – der Tsarin von Russland und deren Mann, dem Zar. Fleur de Lys tiara Princess Alice of Battenberg, the esteemed Princess of Greece, was pictured adorned in a magnificent gilded Fleur de Lys tiara, embellished with exquisite turquoise stones. This was complemented by a matching necklace and sizable diamond earrings in 1914. Eine weitere Eigentümerin des Schmucks war Gräfin Mathilda von Wolff-Metternich, sie erhielt die Diamantparure zur Hochzeit von Ihrem Schwiegervater, dem Grafen von und zu Arco-Zinneberg. Die Parure soll demnächst verkauft werden.

Princess Frederika arrives in an ornate coach with her father, the Duke of Brunswick. She waves to the crowd before going into the cathedral. Very brief shot of the ceremony – looks like a still! The newly married couple ride off in their carriage, waving to the crowds thronging the streets.
