Royal Oriental Circlet Tiara of Marie Grand Duchess of Russia, Princess of Great Britain and Ireland, Duchess of Edinburgh and Duchess of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha |Wedding Present of Queen Victoria

The parure of opals and diamonds was a wedding gift of Her Majesty in the name of HRH the Prince Consort and the Queen to Princess Alexandra. It consisted of three brooches, a pair of earrings, a cross and a bracelet. The Prince Consort drew the designs for the jewels which were executed by Garrard and Co. Princess Alexandra wore the opal and diamond bracelet from this parure on her wedding day.

Prince Albert was very fond of opals, giving his wife an opal and diamond parure which included the Oriental Circlet tiara, which had its opals and later given to the wife of Prince Alfred, Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna, as wedding gift.

The Prince of Wales gave a suite of opal-set jewellery to his eldest sister, Victoria, when she married the Crown Prince of Prussia in 1858.

Upon her marriage in 1862, Princess Alice received an opal and diamond suite from her late father consisting of a cross, two brooches and a pair of earrings which were made by Garrard and Co., which foreshadowed that given to Princess Alexandra.

Opal and diamond wedding gift to Kaiserin Friedrich, Princess Victoria, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria married the future Emperor of Germany in 1858 one of her wedding gifts was an opal necklace, earrings and brooch. Opals were Prince Albert’s favorite stone and it seems he meant to give each of his daughters an opal suite for their wedding. Press at the time said it was a gift from her brother the future King Edward VII but in Victoria’s journal she recorded it was a parure of opals diamonds given by us

Royal Turquoise and Diamond Parure of Duchess Victoria Adelaide of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

The marriage of Duke Charles Edward of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha with Princess Victoria Adelaide of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, was celebrated on 11 Oct 1905 in the presence of the German Emperor and Empress.

The Duke, who was the only son of the late Duke and the Duchess of Albany, had acceded to the Dukedom of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in July 1900. The bride, dressed in white silk with a veil, was led down the aisle walking between the Emperor William and her father Duke Frederick Ferdinand followed by her six bridesmaids. On either side of the bridegroom was his mother the Duchess of Albany and the German Empress.

The presents of the groom's aunt and uncle, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, consisted of costly furniture and of a parure of diamonds for the bride. The gift of the Prince and the Princess of Wales was a silver cup and that of the Duchess of Albany a diamond parure. The Kaiser and the Kaiserin presented a service of china from KPM.

A magnificent crown of large diamonds

Princess Aglaë Margarete Tatiana Mary of Baden, the niece of Margrave Max of Baden married in the summer of 2019, in Amorbach, Mr Wolf of Trotha.

The bride wore a Fleur de Lys diadem and the bridal gown of her mother, the Austrian Princess Marianne von Auersperg-Breunner, from 1967, when she married Prince Ludwig of Baden, the Margrave’s brother. The 200-year-old bridal veil also comes from Auersperg-Breunner’s estate.

The diadem is a surprise from the treassures of the Baden family, because it is probably the wedding present of the Emperor Franz-Joseph of Austria, from 1900, when the then Princess Marie – Luise of Hanover, Prince Max of Baden (Prince Maximilian Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm of Baden * 10 July 1867 † 6 November 1929, 1918 was the last Chancellor of the German Empire and the last heir to the throne of the Grand Duchy of Baden), married.

From the press at that time is to be read:
Gmunden Austria, July 1900. The wedding gifts, received from Princess Marie Luise, were displayed in a small salon of Cumberland Castle on long, white-covered tables for inspection.

„Emperor Franz Joseph had sent a magnificent crown of large diamonds“ …. nothing was known, about it, for a long time.

Princess Marie-Luise, although often wore two large Fleur de Lys brooches studded with large diamonds, on her dress, as can be seen above in the picture, but the matching crown, was never seen in public.

Now a descendant of her, has solved the mystery, the tiara in the form of a diamond crown of five Fleur de Lys lilies, is still in the family, and  property of the house Baden and will hopefully be seen more often now as tiara.

The court jeweler of  Emperor Franz Joseph was most A.E Köchert , in this time, but also court jeweler Biedermann.

For me it looks like for another A.E. Köchert  diamond tiara.

Grand Duchess Stephanie Imperial Emerald Necklace - Parure Royal Imperial Jewel History An imperial emerald diamond necklace of the former House of Baden. The imperial jeweller Nitot & Fils has made in 1806 this necklace of gold and silver. Seven large briolett-cut emerald drops are hanging from this classical necklace of seven step-cut emeralds with a diamond cluster surround. Small, single emeralds and diamonds are connecting on a length of 41 cm the emerald-clusters to a flexible garland – it is an ideal type of a necklace of the Napoléonic period. The necklace is supplemented with a pair of matching pendant-earrings with tops of emeralds with a diamond cluster surround and drop-shaped pendants with a large free swinging briolett-cut emerald in its centres. About 1820 the two briolett-cut emeralds of the back have been removed and are changed to two facetted emeralds. It might be, that the detached emeralds were given as a present or are left as a Napoléonic heirloom.
